Job Description

Primary Job Functions:

Provide expert technical support to ExxonMobil facilities through performing analysis and troubleshooting of fixed equipment using finite element analysis applications such as Abaqus, FEPipe/NozzlePRO, and SagePlus.
Individual contributor:
Perform design and analysis in the areas of pressure vessels, reactors, storage tanks, piping systems, and heat exchangers, including application of Fitness for Service assessments.
Take a leading role in the continuous improvement of engineering standards and technologies
Mentor junior engineers through coaching/training, and the development of job-aids.
Perform engineering oversight of detailed design work performed by engineering contractors, and other engineers
Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for fixed equipment.
Participate in or lead Regional and Global technical networks and action teams.
Job Requirements
Required M.S. (or higher) degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Minimum of five (5) years of experience applying finite element methods in the evaluation and/or design of components through the use of commercially available finite element analysis packages (Abaqus, Ansys…etc.), including development and application of user sub-routines and scripting (e.g., Python, Fortran, C++).
Familiar with industry standards for pressure vessels (ASME VIII), piping (ASME B31.3 and ASME B31.1), tanks (API 650) and Fitness for Service (API 579).
Must be highly proactive (e.g., does not wait to be engaged)
Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and verbal/written communication skills.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Candidates who have demonstrated experience in/with:
Application of fracture mechanics, fatigue, and high temperature assessment methods.
Application of risk based assessments, root cause analysis, and development of equipment strategies and mitigation plans.
Analysis and troubleshooting of fixed equipment using applications such as PVElite, Caesar II, and SagePlus
Design Specifications for fixed equipment and repairs.
Installation, turnaround, and maintenance of fixed equipment.
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and stakeholders
Able to effectively build business cases for technology application
Communicate effectively and function in a team environment to gain alignment on best path forward
