Summary of the position:
As part of the Application eXpertise and Electrical Simulation (AXES India) team in Bangalore, the selected candidate will play a key role in projects involving modeling of power systems for real-time simulation of electromagnetic transient simulation tools (EMT) and phasor dynamic simulation tools. They will be involved in developing new models using the OPAL-RT tools for customer projects as well as model libraries in the tools. The specialist will be under the administrative authority of the AXES India Team Leader. She/he will also get to work with different experts and leaders in the R&D department in Montreal, Canada.
Achievements and stimulating challenges:
Developing state-of-art electrical models and application examples;
Developing new value-added features for engineering software tools and real time simulators;
Analyzing dynamic power networks and models;
Training, modeling, testing and assisting in customer studies;
Modeling and simulation of generation, transmission and distribution components
Develop demo examples for OPAL-RT product libraries;
Assist Field application engineering teams with modelling expertise in developing test-beds for demonstration to customers
Develop demonstrations for trade shows, marketing and to support sales;
Perform validation tests. Write study reports, documentation and technical publications;
Develop and give training related in the relevant field;
Education: Master’s or Ph.D in Electrical Engineering.
Experience: Minimum 3+ years in advanced electrical modeling, simulation and analysis of various power system components, distributed energy resources, power electronic converters. Good working experience of various Electromagnetic Transients (EMT) simulation tools like: Matlab/Simulink, PSCAD, EMTP, RT-Lab (plus point), HYPERSIM (plus point).
Required knowledge: Good understanding of Power systems, renewable energy and microgrids, modeling techniques, Power converters and controls, Hardware-in-Loop simulations. Coding experience in C/C++ in developing algorithms.
Significant assets: Knows OPAL-RT simulation software (ePHASORsim, eMEGAsim, HYPERSIM or other real-time simulation tools).
Required skills: Autonomy, curious to deepen the subjects, versatility, sense of organization, good interpersonal communication, rigor and determination, capacity for analysis and adaptability. Conscience towards sustainable development and high quality deliverables.
