Job Description

Responsibilities:

Design and Development of Electrical/Electronic solutions for HVAC & Transport Refrigeration systems, working in conjunction with internal Subject Matter Experts (SME) and external experts, delivering solutions that meet all project scope requirements, including Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Service.
Optimize the design of power electronic components, motors, sensor and other electrical components to improve reliability, durability, performance, safety and reduce cost.
Apply systematic problem-solving skills and investigate product Quality and Reliability issues to find root cause, containment, and permanent corrective action design change recommendations.
Perform in-depth analysis, model-based simulation, and design in the application of electromechanical rotational machines, power electronics and control systems by utilizing analytical tools available in industry.
Write clear technical requirements, specifications and reports, and present the materials in formal and informal environments.
Generate, evaluate, analyze and develop design concepts and assemblies to meet product requirements provided by Product Management.
Lead design reviews, design failure mode and effects analysis (DFMEA) and design validation plan and report (DVP&R) activities.
Author lab test plans, conduct testing, analyze and interpret results and execute design updates based on the results
Analyze, condense and present data, results, and recommendations. Maintain orderly project records.
Knowledge and ability to work within New Product Development (NPD) Process, with innate understanding of documented prerequisites and Milestone deliverables.
Liaison with Controls & Software Development groups to develop software and Controls Algorithms for different product units.
Develop and manage supplier partnerships with current and prospective new suppliers, working closely with vendors to develop and deliver solutions.
Knowledge of relevant electrical safety standards and protocols applicable to mobile AC/DC voltage systems.
Qualifications:

Master’s or bachelor’s degree in an Electrical / Electronic Engineering discipline.
Approximately 4 – 7 years of experience in Electrical Product design experience in the industrial, or automotive industry desired.
Onsite Experience in US or EU is Preferred
Position is based in Bangalore
Key Competencies:

Prior Experience of component qualification programs and new product development in an automotive/ machinery environment is a distinct advantage.
Knowledge of multiple power electronic modules: DC to DC, Inverters, Power Conversion Units (AC-DC-AC), motors.
Knowledge on sensor technologies, harness design and other electrical components.
Ability to perform detailed calculations to compute and establish electrification standards and specifications.
Strong proficiency with verbal and written communication skills, analytical problem solving, and creativity.
Problem-solving ability, experience with standard analysis and reporting tools. Examples: (A3, 8D, DFMEA, Fishbone/5-whys etc.) is an advantage.
Ability to understand, condense, and organize information to make informed engineering decisions quickly and efficiently.
Experience with product development phase/gate processes (NPD) process, 6 Sigma, are desirable.
Knowledge and experience of control systems and software testing and debug an advantage.
Ability to manage critical product cost and new product development projects with team members and partners spread across global locations.
Capable of developing and executing test plans, interpreting test data, and developing and driving relevant corrective measures where necessary.
Knowledge in PLM and Windchill will be an advantage.
