Skill set needed:
Strong fundamentals in heat transfer and thermal engineering
Prior hands-on experience in building CFD/FEA/Thermal network models for predicting thermal response of electrical or electronic products.
Knowledge of state-of-the-art cooling methods, thermal sizing, loss calculations, hand calculations and simulation methods for high speed electric motors or power electronics.
Strong theoretical knowledge and practical experience in electrical design, electromagnetics, construction, manufacturing process and cooling challenges.
Experience in the design of high-speed electrical machines, preferably in the automotive or aerospace sectors, specifically on thermal management.
Understanding of electrical machine testing, measurement process on cooling system and performance validation
Roles & Responsibility
Perform thermal simulation (FEA/Conjugate Heat Transfer) of electric products using ANSYS(CFX/Fluent/Mechanical), FloEFD or similar software.
Develop and validate simulation methodology for thermal management of motors and controllers
Optimize and improve thermal design considering cost, manufacturing, and product constraints
Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SME) to improve thermal simulation methodology
Work effectively in a multicultural team environment with engineers located in Garrett global sites and external ecosystem/Universities
Automate FEA/CHT/CFD workflow process / creation of custom toolsets for quick design assessment (macros in ACT/APDL, scripting in Python or any other relevant language…)
Support Materials group for determination of required Thermo-physical and electrical material properties
Give recommendations and requirements for tests to validate thermal designs.

Proficiency in ANSYS Workbench (ANSYS Mechanical/CFX/Fluent/Icepak), FloEFD, StarCCM+, MotorCAD or similar software
Knowledge CAD tools (CATIA, OnShape, SpaceClaim)
Programming: Python, MATLAB, ANSYS ACT/APDL
Optimization Tools: iSight, OptiSlang
Education And Competencies
Engineering degree in Mechanical / Thermal Engineering /Mechatronics with minimum 3 to 5 years of experience. MTech or PhD from premier institutes is preferred.
Strong communication skills with teamwork mindset.
Solid understanding of electrical machines or power electronics and deep knowledge in fundamentals of electrical domain.
Solid experience in the application of simulation methods (FEA/CFD) to Thermal management, Motor cooling system and electromagnetics problems
Ability to formulate an approach, develop a corresponding project plan with the associated timing, resources and execute it.
Excellent communications skills and ability to drive and solve conflicting situations. Strong drive to deliver and focus on continuous improvement.
