Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Assists in conducting studies, analysis and is competent in component and system engineering. Which involves activities such as
Short circuit analysis involving MV & LV switchgears, groundings etc.
Power systems load flow analysis for equipment like LV transformers, motors, MV & LV Cables etc.
Transient motor starting analysis for MV & LV motors,
Responsible for carrying detail Engineering, Planning and scheduling for below Electrical package for power generating station in order to meet performance and contract specification.
Specification, calculation & schematic preparation / review of following
Generator and Excitation
Generator line and Neutral side cubicles ( LAVT , NGR & NGT )
Selection of instrument transformer ( CT, PT ) , LA -SC and Setting calculation)
Generator Metering and synchronization
Battery, Battery charger, UPS & DC Motor Starter
LV and MV switchgear & MCC
LV and MV motors
MV busduct
Control and power cable, Earthing.
Assist with model development, studies and analysis that:
contribute to the production of Operating Instructions (including System Control Orders and on-demand limits);
assess the impact on reliability and validate performance of new or modified facilities impacting the IESO-controlled-grid;
Interface with other disciplines, user departments and Clients
Front-face with customer for technical discussions and resolutions
Skills and Attributes:
Conversant with International codes & standards viz IEC, IEEE, Knowledge of Industry Norms and Standards.
Knowledge on Electrical Components of HV/LV and Control system panels.
Assist in technical studies and analysis to resolve inquiries and support real-time operations, operations planning or planning functions through analysis and application of highly specialized technology in the field of power system operation in areas that may include:
Operating Security Limits (all time frames);
transfer capability;
outage (transmission and resource) assessment and support;
transmission services;
ancillary service requirements;

Qualification & Soft skills
Bachelor degree / Master degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited university or college
6+ years of experience in Electrical Engineer – Component and System Engineering
Demonstrated knowledge of power systems generation, operations and control
Demonstrated knowledge of algorithm development, particularly with respect to optimization, short circuit, geomagnetic disturbance modelling, dynamics, and numerical solution techniques
Strong ability to work independently in providing technical services to customers, and a desire to proactively pursue and correct program issues
Excellent oral and written communication skills
