Job Description

What needs to be done?

Perform field service activities like installation, commissioning, maintenance; overhauling and troubleshooting of Howden manufactured equipment at customer site locations primarily in India & need based outside India.

Attend pre-commissioning or outage planning meetings when required in order to assist the client and/or construction company with their planning and manpower/resource requirements.

Report site progress, at prescribed frequency, to the relevant Project Manager and advise of any problems or issues, which may be causing delays on site.

Report any shortages or manufacturing defects to the Project Manager so that an NC can be raised.

Monitor hours worked and ensure client is in agreement with this so that there are no disputes over hours claimed.

Provide ownership of key accounts in supporting & managing client expectations. Drive account based engagement plan & visibility of Shutdown & Turnarounds (STO)

Undertake site walk down & generate full assessment report with proposed recommendations

Achieve leads target by aggressively driving the lead generation program

Liaise with the Design Engineer or Engineering Manager when technical guidance or site information is required.

Ensure that site activities follow strict health, welfare, safety, quality and environmental policies and procedures (JSA / POWRA) & maintain Howden EHS standards to an exceptionally high level.

Take all reasonable care for your own personal health and safety, as well as for that of everyone who may be affected by your actions in workshop/sites.

Liaise and co-operate with company management with regards to the current health and safety legislation and obligations within the location and area where you perform your duties

Assist with producing method statements and risk assessments on site.

Review future requirement for TA visits to enable visit planning.

Participate in open package inspections when requested to ensure that all items on packing lists have been delivered and are stored in line with Howden instructions.

Need based short time assignments attached to repair workshop & or factory.

Proactively perform site walk downs, manage key accounts and generate leads for aftermarket opportunities

Promote Howden retrofit solutions and LTSA

What do you need to bring? Required skills, knowledge & behaviours

Mechanical Engineer – Degree or Diploma

Rotational equipment technical knowledge and plant/equipment maintenance knowledge

Competent using Microsoft Office Software.

Able to write detailed reports with technical content.

Able to understand engineering drawings.

Able to communicate well at all levels within an organisation (verbally and in writing) and particularly in technical matters.

With minimum 5 years of work experience on screw compressors installed in oil & gas industries, chemical & Power industries

Able to demonstrate experience in solving complex issues logically in the field.

Commitment and focus to work safely for yourself and others is unwavering

Ability and willingness to travel locally and globally, often only with short notice for extended period

Preferred skills, knowledge & behaviours

Practical experience in fitting and erecting heavy rotating plant and equipment (Twin Screw)

Practical experience with testing and commissioning.

Reasonable expertise in electrical & instrumentation

Experience on vibration analysis.

Develop strong customer and Howden internal relationships

Communication under pressure and sometimes under difficult circumstances.

Innovate and create opportunities to improve program performance and timescales.

Tolerate rapidly changing environment and circumstances.

Dealing with different nationalities and cultures, sometimes on a single site.

Job holder will be expected to make decisions on construction standards based on the erection manuals provided and guidance provided by the Project Manager or Design Engineer.

Must keep to company policies and procedures.

Must monitor health, welfare, safety and environmental issues at all times whilst overseas and report any concerns to the client and Overseas Installation and Service Manager.

Must take into account personal security when travelling.
