Hiring process
How hiring works here.
Six stages, three to four weeks, and a human reading every application. We assess work rather than credentials, and we tell you where you stand at each step.
We never charge candidates a fee
Not for applications, training, placement, onboarding or equipment — at any stage, in any country. If anyone asks you for money in DIYguru's name, or contacts you from a non-diyguru.org address about a job here, report it to [email protected].
The six stages
- 015 minutes
You apply
Every role links to a single application form. You give us your details, the role you want and whatever evidence of work the posting asks for — a writing sample, a portfolio, a repository. No account to create, no CV parser to fight.
- 02Within 7 working days
We read it
A human on the hiring team reads every application. We aim to respond within a week either way. If you do not hear from us in ten working days, write to us — occasionally a form response gets missed, and we would rather you chase us.
- 0330 minutes
Screening conversation
A call with the hiring manager or a recruiter. Mostly about your experience and what the role actually involves day to day. This is the right point to ask about compensation, location and expectations — we will answer directly.
- 042–4 hours of your time
Work assessment
Role-dependent and always paid for anything substantial. Writers do a short chapter. Trainers deliver a teaching demo. Engineers walk through their own code or work a problem with us. We do not use timed algorithm puzzles or unpaid multi-day projects.
- 0560–90 minutes
Panel conversation
Two or three people you would actually work with, including at least one from outside the hiring team. We discuss your assessment, dig into depth in your area, and give you a long block to interrogate us.
- 06Within 5 working days
Offer
A verbal conversation first, covering compensation, level, start date and anything unresolved, followed by written terms. References are taken after you accept in principle, never before, and never without telling you.
Frequently asked questions
Does DIYguru charge any fee to apply or join?
No. DIYguru never charges candidates a fee at any stage of hiring — not for applications, training, placement, onboarding or equipment. Anyone asking you for money in our name is not us. Report it to [email protected].
How long does the whole process take?
Typically three to four weeks from application to offer for most roles. Senior and international roles can take longer because of scheduling across time zones. We tell you the expected timeline at the screening stage.
Do you hire freshers with no experience?
Yes. Roles marked for freshers genuinely require zero years of experience and come with a structured twelve-week paid onboarding. We do not filter on college tier for any role.
Are internships paid?
Yes. All DIYguru internships carry a monthly stipend, a named mentor and a defined project. Interns get a certificate and a recommendation letter on completion, and strong performers are considered for pre-placement offers.
Can I apply for more than one role?
Yes, though we would rather you applied for the one or two that genuinely fit than for everything open. Applying to many roles at once does not improve your chances and makes it harder for us to route you well.
What if no role matches my background?
Register your interest through the talent pool form. We open roles continuously and often hire ahead of a posting going live — a good share of our trainer panel and several full-time hires came in that way.
Do you sponsor visas or support relocation?
For international roles we state clearly on the posting whether the right to work locally is required. Where we do sponsor, the posting says so. Relocation support within India is available for most permanent roles.
Can I request an adjustment to the interview process?
Yes. Tell us when you apply if you need a different interview format, extra time or an accessible venue. It does not count against you and is not shared with the panel unless you want it to be.
Will I get feedback if I am rejected?
If you reached the assessment stage or beyond, yes — ask and we will give you specific feedback. For earlier-stage rejections we usually cannot, simply because of volume.
